When designing a web site it is important to ensure that the site can be viewed on all of the major web browsers in use today. The same HTML web page may be displayed differently in two different browsers or even in two different versions of the same browser.

One browser may display a page exactly as intended while another one will show an error and display the page differently, or in some case not at all.

It is therefore very important to test any new web site in all of the different browsers that you expect your target audience to be using. It isn't just browsers on Windows based PCs as your target viewer may be using a Linux system, a Mac, a PDA or an iPhone.
